Wheels of Change empowers residents, builds self-esteem AND provides meaningful transitional employment, while giving back to the community. Wheels of Change provides transitional employment opportunities, paying $52 each shift, to individuals residing at Alpha Project’s Temporary Bridge Shelter program.
Participants work closely with shelter case managers and housing navigators to access other wrap-around services. Teams are dispatched five times a week to provide community clean ups including litter pick up, weed and brush abatement, and other community enhancement projects.
Not only do the shelter residents provide valuable community services, they also provide peer-to-peer outreach to other homeless individuals to connect them with housing and services.
