Bridge Shelters

Alpha Project offers four Emergency Shelters for Adults, which provide shelter for 660 individuals as well as case management and support services to prepare clients for permanent housing using the Housing First Model.

Bridge Shelter Newton - 326 beds

Bridge Shelter Imperial - 140 beds

Bridge Shelter Harm Reduction - 44 beds

Bridge Shelter Rosecrans - 150 Beds

 Clients are welcomed and supported at the sprung structures with emergency housing and wrap-around support services. These Programs utilize tools designed to effectively serve the target population in a welcoming and solutions-focused environment.

The objective of the Program is to offer a safe place for adult single men and women experiencing homelessness to receive bridge housing, emergency shelter, and appropriate services needed while preparing for permanent housing placements using the Housing First model. The Program contributes to regional goals of ensuring instances of homelessness are rare, brief, and non-recurring. All services are easily accessible and evaluated for effectiveness on a regular basis.

The Program participates in San Diego’s Coordinated Entry System (CES). CES is an assessment process to determine the specific needs and vulnerability of each individual/family. Intakes into the Program will be made based on the agreed priorities of CES including an assessment of the client's vulnerability as screened by the Common Assessment Tool.

The service delivery model adopted:

  • Serves the community's most vulnerable individuals from each of the intervention categories using a low barrier and Housing First model;
  • Uses best practices techniques and delivery system such as Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, and Critical Time Intervention; and
  • Utilizes Housing Navigation
  • Strives to create a cohesive workflow within the Regional Coordinated Entry System (CES).
