The Family Shelter is a program of the City of San Diego, administered by the San Diego Housing Commission (SDHC) and operated by Alpha Project for the Homeless. The program offers 42 units for families with children experiencing homelessness and provides safe housing and supportive services needed to prepare for longer-term or permanent housing, as well as successfully promoting self-sufficiency, wellness, and recovery.

The program contributes to regional goals of ensuring instances of homelessness are rare, brief, and non-recurring and participates in San Diego's Coordinated Entry System (CES), an assessment process to determine each family's specific needs and vulnerability.

Intakes into the program are facilitated through the Coordinated Shelter Intake Process. Please call 211 to be connected to an Outreach Team for a shelter referral or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
