Homeless Outreach

At the core of all of Alpha Project’s facilities and services is a program of Community Outreach.  Alpha Project Outreach teams are responsible for client outreach and recruitment, which takes place mainly at the Winter Shelter program, area hospitals and through daily outreach on the streets of downtown San Diego and surrounding areas.  Operating out of Alpha Project outreach vans, the outreach teams drive to areas where homeless people congregate, including downtown, North Park and Hillcrest, among others, in an effort to develop relationships with them, offer food, water, clothing, hygiene supplies, blankets, heat packs, transportation assistance, help obtaining identification, as well as a compassionate ear.  Alpha Project is well-known and trusted within San Diego’s homeless population, and its outreach staff members have developed a solid rapport with the homeless over the years.

A special Thank You to Supervisor Greg Cox, Supervisor Bill Horn and Las Patronas for funding wheelchair accessible outreach vans in order to allow Alpha Project to transport individuals with physical disabilities.
